A Trip Around the Circle of Perspectives.  Visit to Each Gathering of Integrators

The people represented on this site are gathered around five “fires.” Visit each fire by clicking on a blue-colored dot on the header and visit a link associated with each gathering.

Dear Visitor,

Welcome to my Web Space.  I believe you will achieve the best understanding of what this creative effort is all about, if you appreciate that I am not your teacher and this is not a course.   The only role I assume in this space is host to an opportunity for you to explore and meet many great integrative teachers.

We have gathered a treasure of resources here and you may explore them in any way you prefer and at any time you wish.

Regards,

Dave Myers

What you will find:

Integration is about connecting across generations, across disciplines, across space, across time, across perspectives and creating synergy with the different aspects of our spiritual and neurophysiological energy.

Click on each colored dot at the top of the page and take a different integrative journey.  Sample a link from each of the five fires:”  Strategies, Past, Future, Inside, and Outside.

Also read the Introductory page and the Directory page for background to this creative effort.

We now have direct links to 670 Internet sites to explore and discover the value of an integrative perspective.  These links are doorways to literally thousands of other links. Please return often and share the benefits of our research on integrative thinkers.
As living systems, it is our mental models and beliefs that will most influence the future for all of us.  You will find others who have also discovered we all have the inner capacity, named here, ” The Grand Integrator”,  to honor all our differentiated parts and live as a well-functioning whole.  Join us around this fire of discovery.

New to the Science gathering: Cell to Cell Communication: Quorum Sensing

There is nothing more than what is present right now,
wherever we are, whatever we are doing.
Look up: empty essence is right there.
Look left, right, behind, inside: the empty essence is there.
Rigpa, the nature of our own mind,
knows the essence and is it.

There is a rich circle of thinkers, philosophers, scientists, futurist, visionaries, historians, and therapists who can be introduced to you around the five camp fires on this site:  Strategies, We-Inside, Science/Outside, Political/Future, and History/Past.

How Speech Differentiates and Integrates Our Reality: Eugen Rosenstock-Huessy and Metanomics

(Metanomics: The Conceptual Foundation

for the Structure of The Grand Integrator Website)

“We/Inside” is our speech organizing our “subjective” human experience: culture, religion, art, literature, music, poetry, community, philosophy.  When we say, “we” or “us” we gather around the subjective camp fire.

“Science/Outside” is how we think and talk about what we call “objective” experience.  It is driven by the healthy dubiousness and curiosity with which we examine the world of “it” around us.   We examine closely, measure, test, analyze mathematically, describe and categorize “it” because, often times, our survival depends on it.  It is the world of analysis and also the world of nominal language.  Interestingly, naming can determine whether the experience seems inside or outside.  We can externalize and marginalize simply by naming.

“Political/Future” is about what actions we will take to determine our future.  Forward !  This is the world of unfinished creation.  It is about the verbs and the imperative speech. It is about our practices, especially our practices of speech.  Preachers, politicians, and salespeople can be found around this camp fire.   And more importantly,  healers, futurists, activists, visionaries and prophets can inform us around the Future camp fire.  What are we going to “do” is the question. How are we going to act?

“History/Past” is the gathering of those who record and manage “what happened.”     Around this fire you might find not only historians but also lawyers, accountants and moralists.  The realm of the past is characterized by adjectival language, moral judgment, and the tracing of things and events by their familiar qualities.

“Strategies” is a gathering around the fire of discussion about  the syntax of our speech, our language, our experience and our practices that can set us free from the forces that prevent integration and health.

We experience the world through these multiple lenses simultaneously, although each linguistic/perceptual capacity can be well differentiated and serve critically important independent functions.   As integrated functions they serve the whole.

One great place to start for an overall perspective on the intent of this Web page is the electronic space dedicated to Marshall McLuhen.  He spoke, forty years ago about what is happening today. He understood that our media are an extension of our senses. Just as a blind man uses a cane to “see”, the electronic media are extensions (or can be extensions) of our capacity to connect with the world around us. He is a profound and prophetic thinker and getting a glimpse of the world through his eyes is a good start in navigating the environment of electronic media that can support us, connect us, or fool us. If our goal is to wake up and live fully in this world, he will be a good and trustworthy teacher.

Idries Shah
In his writings, Shah presented Sufism as a universal form of wisdom that predated Islam. Emphasising that Sufism was not static but always adapted itself to the current time, place and people, he framed his teaching in Western psychological terms. Shah made extensive use of traditional teaching stories and parables, texts that contained multiple layers of meaning designed to trigger insight and self-reflection in the reader. He is perhaps best known for his collections of humorous Mulla Nasrudin stories.

Eduardo Galeano interviewed by Laura Flanders
(click on link to see and hear it)
Why are so many people so scared? Maybe it’s because of our rulers’ enormous “fear machine.” So says Eduardo Galeano, in this rare and charming interview. But there is reason for optimism. Find out just why, back in April, Venezuela’s president Hugo Chavez gave Barack Obama a copy of Galeano’s book, Open Veins of Latin America. Eduardo Galeano is the author most recently of Mirrors: Stories of Almost Everyone, published by Nation Books. His poignant, poetic stories — several of which he reads aloud here — reveal history while inspiring more.
